We are open now on a phased basis. Initially for non-routine care for patients experiencing dental pain or other symptoms. Ireland is only in Phase One of easing restrictions, so we're not bringing back hygiene visits for now. We will keep you updated on this.
We have taken a lot of extra measures to ensure patient and staff safety. We have invested in new safety equipment and PPE, and some of our ways of working have changed:
New COVID 19 Measures for Safe Dentistry
All appointments must be booked by phone, email or facebook messenger. This is because we need to carry out a phone triage for each patient.
New appointment system: We have separate appointment sessions, some for initial assessment or basic treatment and some for more complex treatment where required. Some treatments carry a higher risk and staff need to take extra precautions and wear additional PPE. We cannot offer much flexibility with appointment times so we appreciate your understanding.
Social distancing: We are spacing appointments to allow full disinfection and surgery preparation between patients. The front door will be closed so please do not arrive early. Call us when you arrive so we can let you in. Patients should attend alone, unless they need to have a carer, parent or guardian with them.
Cross Infection Control: We will ask you to use hand sanitiser on arrival. Your temperature will also be taken with a no-touch thermometer. At the moment we can't allow you to brush your teeth or use the toilet in our bathroom.
Minimising Risk: The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) advises that “As in all healthcare delivery, there are risks of infection associated with delivery of dental services in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic”.
We cannot guarantee you are safe from contracting Covid 19. Dentistry involves close face-to-face contact and social distancing between clinical staff and the patient is not possible. We take all appropriate precautions suggested by our regulatory bodies but the risk, though small, cannot be entirely eliminated.
Thank you from the team at Gorey Dental Practice.
