We have taken a lot of extra measures to ensure patient and staff safety. We have invested in new safety equipment and PPE, and some of our ways of working have changed
New COVID 19 Measures for Safe Dentistry
All appointments must be booked in advance.
Please to not attend the surgery to book an appointment as we can only book appointments over the phone or via email.
New appointment system: We have separate appointment sessions, some for initial assessment or basic treatment and some for more complex treatment where required. Some treatments carry a higher risk and staff need to take extra precautions and wear additional PPE. We cannot offer much flexibility with appointment times so we appreciate your understanding.
Social distancing: The front door will be closed. Please call us when you arrive to check in a Nurse or member of staff will greet you at the door as soon as we are ready for you. Patients should attend alone, unless they need to have a career, parent or guardian with them.
Cross Infection Control: We will ask you to wear a mask and use hand sanitiser on arrival.
Your temperature will also be taken with a no-touch thermometer.
The waiting room and bathroom facilities are closed.
Please avoid bringing additional items with you such as handbags, shopping bags, coats and so on.
Minimising Risk: The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) advises that “As in all healthcare delivery, there are risks of infection associated with delivery of dental services in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic”.
We cannot guarantee you are safe from contracting Covid 19. Dentistry involves close face-to-face contact and social distancing between clinical staff and the patient is not possible. We take all appropriate precautions suggested by our regulatory bodies but the risk, though small, cannot be entirely eliminated.
Thank you from the team at Gorey Dental Practice.

Gorey Dental Practice is no longer part of the HSE Medical Card Dental Scheme
Dr. Jane Montague Peters and Dr. David Paredes have made the difficult decision to resign from the Dental Treatment Services Scheme which allows them to treat medical card patients. This decision has been reached as the scheme no longer allows us to provide the standard of care we wish to provide to our patients and is financially unviable for Gorey Dental Practice.
With COVID-19 there is a need for additional PPE to meet the safety standards required. Global demand during the pandemic has also increased the costs of PPE significantly. The Government is not providing PPE for medical card treatments or contributing to the cost of PPE. Since April last year we have been absorbing these costs and unfortunately it is not possible for us to cover these additional costs whilst ensuring the practice remains open to treat patients in the long term. We will endeavour to complete any outstanding treatment plans but will not be able to start any new treatments going forward.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
